Shein is a fast fashion brand with over 88 million customers worldwide making over USD $32 million a year. To capitalize on their expanding footprint in India, Shein partnered with Galleri5 to build a robust growth engine powered by user-generated content (UGC), affiliate marketing, and AI tools. The Galleri5 team brought me on board as an experienced designer to conceptualise and map out the critical user flows for all the app's core features.

The primary focus was developing three distinct features: an affiliate link creation tool, an engaging in-app UGC feed, and a Virtual Try-On experience that allowed users to upload a photo and preview outfits on themselves. During my time on the project, I designed complete visual flows for client approval across all three features, though I primarily saw the affiliate link generator through to its live launch. The mentioned features exist as embedded web-views in Shein India's iOS/Android apps.

Our workflow was highly collaborative and iterative. After digesting product requirement documents (PRDs) and participating in client meetings, I would dive into the design phase. To ensure smooth async communication, I recorded detailed handoff videos using Loom and Google Vids for the engineering team, allowing us to seamlessly cycle through feedback and new feature requests. I also leveraged AI tools like NotebookLM and Gemini to distill complex documents and proactively identify edge cases I might have otherwise missed.

I heavily utilized NotebookLM to generate edge cases, charts, visual models, and open questions that required further client clarification. This approach drastically streamlined our handling of complex documentation, ensuring no detail was overlooked. By using AI for summarization, we quickly extracted vital user flows and screen requirements from dense technical documents, which perfectly guided our initial wireframing efforts.

Using target keywords and a list of competitors provided by the client, I researched and compiled visual benchmarks to determine the ideal aesthetic for the landing page. This reference collection was a vital first step, allowing us to align on the design direction before committing to structural layouts. It gave us the freedom to explore various visual styles while ensuring the final mood perfectly matched the client's vision and project goals.

Establishing the information architecture, user flows, and wireframes was a critical phase, as these assets served as the foundation for project scoping, cost estimation, and timeline planning. This stage required significant time, iteration, and thoughtful deliberation before engineering could begin. Ultimately, this meticulous planning was essential to align completely with the client and proactively resolve any concerns regarding edge cases.

For more complex interactions and userflows, I built interactive prototypes using Cursor and deployed them to Vercel, allowing stakeholders to experience the flows firsthand.

Every screen outside of the initial landing and onboarding experience was crafted in strict adherence to Shein's established brand guidelines. This included meticulously designing all pop-ups, modals, error states, and first-time user experiences (FTUE).

Sustaining a 25% activation rate, the program drove approximately $1.36 million AUD (₹7.5 crore) in monthly Gross Merchandise Value (GMV) and rewarded the creator economy by distributing about $54,500 AUD (₹30 lakhs) in monthly earnings. During the 6 months, 11,000 creators submitted 18,000 external social media posts promoting their affiliate links, averaging 10,000 views each. As the platform scaled between August 2025 and June 2026, it attracted 2M+ monthly sign-ups. Seeing a B2C app that I had worked on from 0 to 1 was a very gratifying & rewarding experience. I learnt to use new tools, adapt my workflow and work on short timelines with efficiency during this project.
